Creative Movement  ages 3.5-5
Children must be 3.5 by the start date of the class.

This class introduces children to the world of dance using a practice and play curriculum to encourage dance as a
form of fun physical fitness and self-expression. Warm-up and center activities include structured and free-form
exercises that strengthen motor skills, improve coordination, enhance socialization skills and empower the
imagination through dance! Musical instruments and singing are used to develop musicality, teach young dancers
to match music to movement and to use dance to express ideas and emotions.

Pre-school ballet basics and vocabulary, plus core dance concepts are reinforced through learning activities that
include reading and discussing ballet stories, and using ballet coloring pages, art and crafts and costumes in
activities that teach the basic building blocks of dance. Creative Movement students participate in a Class
Demonstration Performance at the end of both the Fall and Winter/Spring semesters.

Attire: Girls: Pink short sleeve Leotard, white or pink FOOTLESS tights and pink or white ballet shoes. Boys White
T-shirt and shorts, socks and ballet shoes. All children may participate in bare feet if desired.


Intro to Dance - Ballet ages 4.5-6
For dancers younger than age 4.5, the required pre requisite for this class is Creative Movement

Classical ballet stories and their beloved musical themes set the backdrop for teaching ballet vocabulary and
dance concepts. Class includes warm-up and stretch, across the floor dance patterns plus center practice & play
designed to teach the building blocks of ballet basics. Children learn storytelling through dance as they explore the
ballet stories of Cinderella, Swan Lake, Coppelia, Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty. Group dances
encourage freedom of movement, promote teamwork through dance, develop musicality and motivate dancers to
use ballet basics to match music to movement. Craft projects and coloring pages that explain and reinforce the art
of dance, plus a variety of props and costumes are used as learning tools. Intro to Dance - Ballet Basics students
participate in a Class Demonstration Performance at the end of both the Fall and Winter/Spring semesters.

participate in bare feet if desired.


Intro to Dance - Ballet & Tap dance Basics ages 4.5-6
For dancers younger than age 5, the required pre requisite for this class is 2 semester's of Creative Movement or
Intro to Dance- Ballet

Classical ballet stories and their beloved musical themes set the backdrop for teaching ballet vocabulary and
dance concepts. Class includes warm-up and stretch, across the floor dance patterns plus center practice & play
dance exercises designed to teach the building blocks of ballet basics.  
The fundamentals of tap dance --
specifically targeted for preschooler -- are also included in this class. (
The Ballet Studio has tap shoes on hand that
students can borrow when size is available).
 Center floor dances and movement exercises that teach both ballet and tap dance basics are designed to
encourage freedom of expression, promote teamwork through dance, develop musicality and motivate dancers to
