Kristen Prather began her study of dance at the age of seven. She
trained in ballet, jazz, acrobat, lyrical, musical theater, and tap while attending
the Judy Bourn School of Dance (now Bourn Academy of Dance) in Ohio. As
a member of the Bourn Competition Dance Team she became a featured
performer for the company as both a solo artist and ensemble dancer.
Taking her talents to new heights, Kristen studied modern and ballet at the
University of Akron School of Dance while still a senior in high school. She
earned a dance-theater scholarship, and attended Catawba College where
she was active in the dance program as both a performer and choreographer.
Her post graduate performing credits include “Unrighteous Steps” at the
American College Dance Festival Mid-Atlantic and first alternate dancer for
the American College Dance Festival at the Kennedy Center. Recently a
featured performer in The Ballet Studio’s 2013 Dance Concert , Kristen also
served as choreographer for ‘Music and the Mirror’.
Kristen holds a bachelor of arts in American Politics and History from
Catawba College and in her “day job” is a government affairs professional .
When not teaching or dancing you will find her training for half marathons or
engaged in a favorite pastime -- watching sports!
