Tap   I/II
For dancers age 7+ or students age 6 with prior tap or ballet experience
This beginner/advanced beginner  tap class introduces students to tap dance basics and teaches how rhythm and sound work
together to create the foundation for solid tap technique. Using a warm-up that provides introductory and beginner tap
progressions, students move at their own pace to perfect the fundamentals and then apply more advanced technique to their
dance training. Emphasis is placed on learning a unified tap vocabulary, understanding the progressions of primary tap steps
and learning the jazz dance basics that complement tap dance performance.
Attire: Girls: Leotard, jazz pants or tights.  Tap shoes*
Boys: T-shirt, jazz pants.  Tap shoes*

Tap II/Jazz- Musical Theatre --  ages 8+

Tap, Broadway Jazz, musical theatre and ballet essentials form the foundation of this advance beginner class that uses
choreography and themes from popular Broadway musicals as the spring board to learning  tap & jazz dance technique. Audition
skills, acting and stage presentation, plus theatre warm-up exercises, and practice and play character development are included
as building blocks that sharpen dance technique and create  show-stopping musical theatre performances!!
Attire: Girls: Leotard, jazz pants or tights. Jazz and/or ballet shoes. Tap shoes* Boys: T-shirt, jazz pants. Jazz and/or ballet shoes.

** Tap shoes may be borrowed from the Ballet Studio if  student's size is available. Submit  shoe size when pre registering

Tap III  – Broadway &  Rhythm Tap Intermediate
Designed for students who have a broad understanding of advance beginner tap technique, this class includes a
comprehensive review of tap dance fundamentals and how rhythms and sound work together to create the foundation for solid
tap technique.
It quickly moves on to provide an adv. beginner/intermediate tap warm up,  plus exercises that focus on advance
tap progressions and patterns such as time steps, wings, and pullbacks. Center floor choreography that teaches the
intricate foot work and timing of Rhythm Tap styles is  presented --  in addition to standard Musical theatre/Broadway tap dance.
Attire: Girls: Leotard, jazz pants or tights.
